Fill out the form on the right (bottom of the page on mobile) for more information about these programs. Below you’ll find more information on the three types of financial relief Congress has passed.
1. Direct Payments
Most eligible U.S. Taxpayers will receive their Economic Impact Payments including:
-
Individuals who filed a federal income tax for 2018 or 2019
-
Social Security retirement, disability (SSDI), or survivor benefits
-
Supplemental Security Income (SSI)
-
Railroad Retirement and Survivor benefits
-
Veteran Affairs benefits
This payment will either be directly deposited into your bank account or sent through the mail.
The breakdown of payments are as follows:
-
Those making up to $75,000 per year are entitled to $1,200
-
Couples who make up to $150,000 per year are entitled to $2,400
-
Every $100 above $75,000 you earn will remove $5 from your check up to $99,000
-
You will receive $500 for every dependent child under the age of 17
Answers for most Economic Impact Payment questions are available on the IRS Economic Impact Payment Information Center or in an automated message for people who call the Economic Impact Payment Information Center: (800) 919-9835. Those who need additional assistance at the conclusion of the message will have the option of talking to a telephone representative.
If you do not normally file federal income taxes, you might still be eligible for the Economic Impact Payments, however you must provide some basic information to the IRS, use the Non-Filers: Enter Payment Info portal. The IRS website will redirect you to a legitimate third-party website. SSI and VA recipients should include information about their current dependents by May 5th.
2. Expanded Unemployment Benefits
We added $600 per week to every unemployment check and expanded benefits for everyone out of work in this crisis. We also expanded benefits for freelance, furloughed, and gig workers. The fastest way to access these benefits is filing online with the State of California.
Due to the large increase in claims filed, the wait time for service may be quite long right now! I’m working with our state and local partners to make sure the backlog is resolved.
3. Small Business Loan & Grant Programs
If you own or are employed by a small business, SBA loans are available to keep your business afloat. These loans are dependent on your ability to continue to pay your employees, as small businesses including our family farms and mom & pop shops are the backbone of the Central Valley.
To start the process to get a loan or grant, please visit this page on the SBA website.
If you have any issues with this process, don’t hesitate to contact my office.
I know these payments will not answer all of the challenges our community is facing, and I am working everyday to investigate what else can be done. We will make it through this crisis, but only if we find ways to support each other. As always, my office is here as a resource to the families of the Central Valley, please reach out if we can help. Remember, I’m here to serve YOU.
Please see my new page for further updates on the novel coronavirus (COVID-19)
