Rep. Cox Applauds EPA’s Announcement to Award Nearly $1.5 Million to the San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District

WASHINGTON, D.C.Congressman TJ Cox (CA-21) issued the following statement after the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced it will be providing $1,466,886 dollars in funds to the San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District (APCD). The funding will help improve air quality and reduce risks to human health and the environment.

 

“The San Joaquin Valley faces some of the toughest air quality challenges in our nation. These funds are critical and will help the San Joaquin APCD carry out clean air act regulations, permitting and additional related program activities,” said Rep. TJ Cox. “Now more than ever we must commit to improving the Valley’s air for the future of our children and our Valley families.”

 

This award is provided under Section 105 of the Clean Air Act, which authorizes the EPA to provide grants to air pollution control agencies, including local agencies that have the responsibility for enforcing laws related to preventing and controlling air pollution.
