Rep. TJ Cox Opposes Administration’s Proposal to Kick Millions of Americans off the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program

Washington, D.C. – Today, Congressman TJ Cox (CA-21) issued a statement following the release of the Administration’s proposed rule to eliminate broad-based categorical eligibility to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP).

The Trump Administration’s proposed rule is yet another attack on the most vulnerable across our nation,” said Congressman TJ Cox. “This senseless rule will kick millions of people off SNAP, including hard-working families in the Central Valley, where numerous residents rely on the program to put food on their tables. It’s unacceptable that the Administration continues to try to change the law without the authorization of Congress. Families in the Central Valley and across America need a hand up, not cruel policies that take food off their tables. I’m committed to working with my colleagues to stop the Administration from possibly forcing working families to go hungry.”
