Rep. TJ Cox Statement on Co-Sponsoring H.R. 1: The For the People Act

WASHINGTON – Today, Congressman TJ Cox announced that he would be cosponsoring HR1: The For the People Act. This bill will fundamentally transform our politics by taking power back from corporations and special interests, ending the era of big money, reducing gerrymandering, and tearing down barriers to voting for all Americans. Congressman TJ Cox released the following statement:

“When I ran for this seat, I pledged that I would never take corporate PAC money and that I would work to rid our politics of corrupt special interests. I am proud to cosponsor H.R. 1, the first piece of major legislation of this Congress, which will strengthen our democracy by making it easier to vote, enact tough standards to fight corruption, and help end the practice of partisan gerrymandering. This is an important first step in our fight for more accountable and transparent government.”
